Details

Bangladesh is a land of immense possibilities. It is possible to put the country in the forefront of developed and prosperous nation by using its natural and human resources. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the potential areas of the region and take initiatives to improve the area-based infrastructure. Every region of Bangladesh is unique in terms of geographical features, culture and heritage. District Branding aims to lead a district forward by highlighting its tradition, ethnicity and variety of culture in the domestic and international fronts. As a traditional ancient township, known as the cultural capital of South Asia and the gateway to the northern region, Bogra occupies an important position. Pundravardhana, the capital of the ancient Pundra state is today’s Bogra. The administrative center of the states of Maurya, Gupta, Pal, Sena etc. were ancient villages of Bogra. Considering the long history and cultural heritage of the district, the historic Pundranagar Mahasthangarh has been chosen as District Branding.

Bogra is surrounded by the river of Jamuna, Karatoya, Bangali and Nagar. Traditional yogurt (doi), red chili, adhesive potato and agricultural machinery of this district have gained national and international popularity. Significant tourist attractions namely Mahasthangarh, Shiladebir Ghat, Kheruya Mosque, Tomb of Shah Sultan Mahmud Balkhi (R), Ziyat Kunda, Gokul Medha, Udbarn Public Library and Bhasu Vihara are the leading examples of history, heritage and culture of this district. Among the Bengali heritage, there is a mention of the 'Poradaha Mela' and the 457 year old ‘Kellaposhi Mela’.

I believe that the socio-economic progress of the country will be expedited by the expansion of tourism industry using the workforce of local entrepreneurs.

Under the guidance of Cabinet Division and direct supervision of a2i project of the honourbale Prime Minister’s Office, this initiative of district-branding has unveiled a new horizon of economic possibilities for Bogra. I also hope that the nobility of Pundra civilization of this district will expand worldwide.
