Profile of Deputy Commissioner:

Hosna Afroza, the Deputy Commissioner & District Magistrate of Bogura, was born in 1977 at Betaga village of Madarganj Upazila in Jamalpur. Coming from an esteemed Muslim family, her father, late Mr. Md Abdul Latif was an Islamic Scholar who was lifelong devoted in teaching career. Her mother, Mrs. Johura Begum was a homemaker. Hosna Afroza passed her SSC and HSC in 1991 and 1993 respectively, obtaining board scholarships in both examinations. Later she completed her graduation as 1st class in B.S. (Honours) in Botany from University of Dhaka, securing scholarship alongside. She achieved 1st class in M.Sc. from the same department while completing her thesis related to Microbiology. In 2013, she completed Masters in Governance & Development (MAGD) from BRAC University while pursuing her career.

Hosna Afroza joined BCS Administration service in 2005, as a member of 24th BCS Administration batch. She worked in Narshingdi and Dinajpur as  Assistant Commissioner. She was stationed at Bahubal Upazila, Habiganj and Rajbari sadar as Assistant Commissioner (Land). She was Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Hajiganj, Chandpur. Later she served in different capacities in Ministry of Youth and Sports, Land Appeal Board and Bangladesh Trade & Tariff Commission. Prior to being appointed in Bogura, she was posted in Ministry of Public Administration. On August 13, 2024, she was promoted to the post of Deputy Secretary of Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh (seniority effective from 20th February, 2018). On September 9, 2024, she was appointed as the Deputy Commissioner & District Magistrate, Bogura; which was followed by her assumption of the charge on September 12, 2024.

Regarding her personal life, she is married to Mr. Md. Hasan Mamun, who is from Patuakhali district. They are blessed with a son and a daughter.
